Family Resource Center Classes Offered

  

Cappalappa Family Resource Center offers a variety of Classes for:

Self Improvement, Parenting from 0 to 18 years taught in English & Spanish. Teen Awareness, Teen Parents, Safe Sitter, Stress Management, Budgeting, Job Preparation, English as a second Language, Spanish as a second Language, and many, more.

Our goal is to help your needs today, while preparing you for tomorrow.

FIRST STEP OUT THE DOOR
This program is for teens getting ready to take that first step out the door and will consist of job seeking, successfully completing job applications, job interview strategies, interview preparedness, job hunting, dressing for success, and resume writing. Once students have learned how to obtain a job, they will also learn the responsibility of maintaining a budget and a bank account.


BUDGETING
Come join us for ideas and ways to save money and make a budget you can live with.

BACK ON THE ROAD TO INDEPENDENCE
Adults learn to write a resume, interview preparedness, dressing for success, and job hunting.

SHAKEN BABY SYNDROME
An informative class designed to show exactly what happens to a child brain when they are shaken. This class could save your child's life or the life of someone you know.

SAFE SITTER
This program is for 11 to 13 year olds to learn skills to become better sitters today and better parents tomorrow. Participants learn baby-sitting ethics (such as when its OK to cancel or refuse a baby-sitting job), how to care for a choking infant or child, personal safety, how to care for children (diapering, holding an infant, feeding, entertaining, etc.), injury prevention, basic first aid, preventing problem behavior, and behavior management.

ACTIVE PARENTING
1 2 3 4 Parents! Parenting children ages 1 - 4 can help using videos, activities and group discussions, a group leader will help you learn important skills for parenting a young child. NOTE: Also available expanded program for Teen Parents

ACTIVE PARENTING NOW
For parents of children 5 - 12 nonviolent discipline techniques, improve communication, teach responsibility and other important values, handle problems as they come, cope with difficult topics such as drugs, violence, and sex, defuse power struggles, stimulate independence, encourage your children to be their best. Also available in Spanish.

ACTIVE PARENTING OF TEENS
Insight into discussing violence, sex, alcohol and drugs, communication with your teen, direction with discipline, how to talk with our teen, current teen issues, solving problems together, reinforcing your teen's courage and inner strength, building your teen's sense of responsibility, communication effectively and how to discipline teens. Six sessions combine video and discussion with practical advice fro the author, Michael Popkin, Ph.D., and an experienced leader
